The feeling of guilt is very real, and is a destructive force, if you let it. Before I share the 4 tactics, I want to reflect on one of the most powerful moments of my entrepreneurial life.
Last week, my coach hosted a 2-day retreat, and 13 of us gathered to map out our 2016 Success Plan. Masterminding, celebrating, coaching and being coached, it was such an incredible and intense experience! It was one of the most intense and focused times I've ever experienced.
As we took turns in receiving one-on-one support from the coach and feedback from the rest of attendees, my confidence grew! I felt that I was getting so many answers just by listening to others!
Then, it was my turn. I knew that I needed clarity on how to properly articulate what is that I do. What I did not expect, however, was the major breakdown that would follow!
After about an hour of focus, strategic questions, and being called out on any excuses, we got it! Finally, after years of working with various coaches, and tens of thousands of dollars that I've invested in them, it all came together.
Finally, it all made sense: from features, to results, to benefits, to methodologies, it all clicked, they all aligned, they made sense!
(Mind you, I've heard all of that before, I was familiar with each one of those pieces, I've helped numerous clients solve that exact puzzle). But to me, something clicked! And then, I broke down!
Breakthroughs and breakdowns go hand-in-hand. The following day, I got sick! The pressure, all that tension and energy...
Have you ever experienced any of it?
There was one other thing, however, that caught my attention, and would like to point it out today.
Reviewing results from my market research, and from talking to other attendees, I noticed that a vast majority of moms who are also business owners, have said they consistently feel guilty!

Guilty for trying to run a business while having family to take care of! So, if this is how you feel, you are not alone!
It truly is difficult, trying to create a consistent income when you are consistently fighting that feeling of guilt.
Add to that lack of time, juggling of identities (mom, business owner, wife, chauffeur, sales person, chef, cleaner, marketer), and even feeling undervalued (because you're not seeing the results you'd want) - and you come dangerously close to being stuck and overwhelmed.
Here are 4 things for you to consider if you feel that way, too:
- Establish a better balance, boundaries, and create more time so that you can take care of your business without having to fight your guilt, or feeling overwhelmed.
- Identify your consistent revenue goals and make any tweaks to assure they work in the time you have to manage your business and family.
- Create a plan that supports your message, and then narrow it down to specifics that will impact your audience in a way that works for you.
- Build out a financial plan for the business that supports you, your family, and your life.
Through all of that, you will re-discover who you are as a mom and entrepreneur, feel valued, and will gain your confidence back.
I hope this helps you in some way!
