My grandmother's brother was a sailor, and from every place he visited, he sent her a postcard.
Over the years, she collected dozens and dozens of them - including the ones you can see in the photo here.
As a little kid, those postcards were my window into the world far beyond the small medieval town of 20,000 residents in Slovenia that I grew up in. You know, one of those with red-clay rooftops, a castle on a hill, and with the Alps on the horizon.
Basketball would ultimately become the key to fulfilling my dream of traveling the world - I've been "on the road" since 12 years old, and it's been almost 15 years since New York has became my new home.
Those postcards came with me into our new home in a memorabilia box that also contained all the medals, trophies, class photos dating back to the kindergarten, report cards, recognition, diplomas,...
It's needless to say that it meant the world to me (no pun intended), so what happened next, was truly devastating:
With two curious little kids at home, and their sticky fingers, I had to put it away, "someplace safe" I thought.
A few months ago, I went to look for it. I could not find it! I was devastated.
That collection was a literal snapshot of the first 20 years of my life, all my accomplishments, and results of the hard work and sacrifices... My ego in a tangible form.
After months of searching, I had finally come to terms that perhaps, it accidentally ended up in trash amidst all the moves, renovations, remodeling...
Ultimately, I released the attachment to it, I released the meaning it had, and I realized that after all, no "stuff" can neither give nor replace that feeling, inner knowing of who I am, my worth, even all the memories.
And guess what - the same day I experienced a major emotional release of some deeply-rooted fears... the memorabilia box reappeared...
It was in a place I had looked at countless of times. It was there, ready to be seen when I became available to see it.
In fact, it's same with business - you are not your results, you are not numbers on the bank account,... You are much more than that.
And, everything you are after and are working so damn hard for
(freedom, happiness, success, fulfillment) trying to utilize all the external stuff (like systems, strategies, answers, accountability)...
...will come to you...
...when stop chasing it, and instead let go of what no longer belongs, realign, expand, and simply BE.
See, for the past several years, I have experienced tremendous growth and expansion personally and professionally.
I went through the fires and rose from the ashes, gathered and mastered the tools, and learned the lessons in order to become the one who can help you be who you really are, and create what you truly want...
...from upgrading your version of normal to building a better business that lights you up, having deeper relationships, traveling more, and creating life that you love, on your terms.
It starts with saying yes to investing in your most valuable asset - you.
And it starts here and now.
