After starting out as a VA in 2011, I realized that I sucked at taking orders - so I built a team :-) But, working my way "up the ladder" as an OBM and consultant, it gave me unique opportunity to get my hands on the back-end of 6- and 7-figure coaching and consulting businesses my clients have. Some, we've built together. Some, we've improved and made even better and more efficient.
I had to make the decision - will I let the technology scare me, or will I embrace it? Choosing to embrace it was one of the best ones I had to make.
But, as I transitioned into a new business model and left behind the days of being a VA & OBM, I was trying to "fit the mold" of a typical strategist. I was afraid to offer those services. BIG mistake, and I'll share with you why I see so many of us with a similar background, make it.
Let me first clarify what I mean by "embracing technology" and "back-end of businesses":
:: I can design a suitable and sustainable business model, a marketing strategy, and map out detailed project scope for my clients based on their goals, timeline, budget, capacity and capability.
:: And, I can also create from scratch, and optimize, sales and optin pages like LeadPages and ClickFunnels (technical parts and visually appealing and on-brand); take care of all the back-end flow like setting up and integrating all the emails and autoresponders in Aweber, ActiveCampaign, Mailchimp, ConstantContact; build mobile-friendly websites; manipulate graphics...
And this second part, I wanted to keep secret for a long time! And, it cost me a fortune in opportunities.
So, why are we making those costly mistakes?
First:
Sometimes, we are so focused on that next thing we want to become (coach, consultant) that we "forget" to offer the very things our clients want and need! Give them what they want and need! Especially, in the phase when you're bridging from one business to another, it can help you financially support the transition.
Second:
With a shift in perception, you can stop operating as a VA who trades dollars for hours, and transfer the skill to conduct business as a highly-skilled specialist who charges based on the added value. When you're good at it, and get results for your clients, you can go from getting paid $250 to $2,500, and more, for the same project, for example!
Own your brilliance, embrace your multi-passionate self,
focus on the value you add to your clients!
