My two little ones love Moana (Disney's animated movie). Love it - they ask to watch the songs (You Tube videos) every morning. One scene stands out and reminds me of entrepreneurship:
Moana disappointingly asks her grandmother whether there was something she wanted to tell her. "Is there something you want to hear?" responds the grandmother.
"Is there something you want to hear?"
As entrepreneurs, we consistently grow and evolve, and push ourselves out of our comfort zone. We hire coaches, consultants, advisers, mentors, different experts to help us hone on our skill, expand our horizons, see things differently, do things in a better way, make greater impact, overcome fears, etc.
Yet, it doesn't matter what they tell us, nor how often they might tell us something - unless were ready to hear it, nothing will matter. Even then, it may take more than once to really sink in.
Let me illustrate:
For weeks now, I've been with my family overseas. It's always so great to return home, especially now with the little ones!
Besides reconnecting with family and old friends, I also tend to take this time and dedicate it to self-care. This year, my focus is on my energy, clearing out my blocks, fears, and also my health; anything and everything that's preventing me from moving forward. And there's A LOT of that stuff!
How do you want to feel?
So, excited about this new year, new services, and new opportunities, I made an appointment with an energy healer - something I've never done before. And it was the best investment I have made in a long time!
See, over the past several months, my focus was solely on meeting my goals and on helping my clients reach theirs: facts, numbers, metrics, margins, action... Go, go, go, go, do, do, do, do!
I love what I do, but I burned out!
At times, it took literally forcing myself to turn on the camera and do a livestream; it took days to find an inspiration for a simple post, even to write an email! All the fun was gone! Have you ever felt this way?
Worst of all - my kids felt it, my husband felt it, and so did my prospects! And this was an expensive lesson because life always has a way of getting its point across!
I felt defeated, lost!
My mentor has been a great support (in his 20+ years in such role, he knows how the growth process can be a bumpy road), and we spoke a lot about my focus, energy, too.
But it wasn't until I sat across the room from my energy healer, when she asked one question that I finally got it - "How do you want to feel?"
Along the way, I forgot about the fun, fulfillment, joy, ease!
Result? Within days, 5 new business opportunities came my way, with ease!
So today, I want to ask you: How do YOU want to feel in your business? And - what do you want to hear?
Now, let's talk about how that would look like, and what you need to do to get there...
